Cooler temperatures made for good racing as Caston Jr High boys XC went to the Culver Military Invite Saturday morning. For a few of the guys, this was their first experience at a truly massive meet with good running conditions. Many of them were able to take advantage of the weather, and hard work through the last several weeks, to run their best times of the season.
Austin Dague clinched third place with a time of 10:33. Also scoring for the Comets were Edison Byrum (11:22), Connor Sommers (12:19), Caleb Stinson (12:47), and Marshall Finke (12:51). Alex Craig, Braden Rush, and Max Sommers also ran great times, with Braden and Max running seaosn best times for themselves.
For the Jr High Comets, they’re going into their last week of the 2018 season to finish at Conference next Saturday at Winamac. After winning Cass County a couple of weeks ago, they’re hoping to finish their season with a Conference title as well. As a coach, I hope they’ll all continue to work out with their varsity teammates, but I especially hope to see these three eighth graders keep their conditioning up, because I’m counting on all three of them to move up next season to the varsity team.
