In class 1A competition Saturday, the Caston Comets placed 10th out of 32 teams, with Mitchell Rans placing 11th in 16:30 in the 3A race. Scoring for the Comets were Bryan Hernandez-Rios (2nd, 17:12), Micah Colvin (12th, 17:48), Dakota Oldfather (50th, 19:11), Mark Smith (127th, 21:17), and Luke Lowe (135th, 21:33). Brock Buczkowski and Wyatt Brumett also put in strong showings running 21:59 and 23:41 respectively.
I feel that everyone ran very well today. The day was a little warm, but the times were comparable, and sometimes faster, than what the guys ran last year at the New Prairie Invite and Semi-State. I really like this meet because it gives us times for almost everybody we’ll see again in the post season. I’ll have a lot of number crunching to do, but before Monday I’ll have a solid idea of how we are looking for Conference and post season.
We are going to work hard this week, and look forward to another huge invite next weekend at Culver Academy.
