Caston Boys started the season with an eighth place finish Saturday. Performances looked good overall, and we were down a couple of runners due to conflicts with other sporting events and SATs. Micah Colvin lead the charge with an eighth place (17:49) finish. Freshman Austin Dague finished 21st overall (18:49), showing that the move from Jr High to Varsity hasn’t phased him a bit. Rounding out the pack were Dakota Oldfather (45th, 20:12), Byron Rentschler (88th, 22:07), Connor Sommers (95th, 22:44), and Marshall Finke (98th, 22:50).

I’m very pleased with how the guys looked out there. Four out of the six guys were running their first ever varsity race, and they just showed up. I can’t wait to see how we look once we have a chance to run with the full team out there. I know that the elephant in the room is that we graduated Mitchell and Bryan last year, but I’m still convinced that the tighter scoring pack is going to serve us well and allow us to uphold the tradition we’ve started building!

The guys will run again Tuesday evening at the North Miami Invitational.
