The Caston guys put up some decent times on the hilly Valley course today. Junior Micah Colvin lead the charge with a fifth place finish in 17:12, followed by Austin Dague in 39th with a time of 19:31. Shortly behind him was senior Dakota Oldfather with a time of 19:40. The Comets’ scoring team was finished off by Luke Lowe and Connor Sommers finishing in 21:25 and 21:28, respectively. Rounding out the lineup were Marshall Finke (21:51), Byron Rentschler (22:32), and Wyatt Brumett (22:48).
It was such a great day for this race. Last year on this weekend, it was cold, rainy and miserable, and this race always seems to have those adjectives. This year it was sunny, and just slightly cool until the end of the races. So far this season our courses have been fairly flat. This Valley course gives us some good practice for the New Prairie meet next week. I’m hoping that this, plus some extra hill drills through the week, get the guys ready to run hard at their first look at the Semi-State course for this season.
