Mitchell Rans took first with a new course record of 15:43. It was an amazing day for a distance runner; cool, but not too cool; no wind; flat, paved course… And it showed in the way these guys ran. I was at the mile marker with the managers calling out times, and I realized that all seven guys had already gone by in less than six minutes; my mind was blown. These last few weeks have been a coach’s dream. The guys are always taking the longer distance or the harder workout when we give a range, and it’s paying off. It’s one thing for them to say to me “Coach, we want to do everything possible to take a team to State.”, and it’s another thing entirely for them to come out and work like they have, and show me that they mean it. We’re all excited to go strong into the post season and see how far we get!
