The Comets started off slow in the first set and got down 5-0 before they were able to find their groove. “We would have won the first set if we hadn’t gotten down so much. We just started out tight and nervous. We had two quick net calls and a ball handling error. Once we overcame those, we started to play well. Sets 2 and 4, we really played great volleyball and backed each other up, moved our feet, and played well at the net. We just had some consistence problems in the other sets. We let North Miami servers score several points on us when they weren’t really serving the ball hard, they were just making us move a little and for some reason, we were struggling with that today. Overall, I’m still really proud of how hard they played today. We never gave up. In the 4th set, we came from behind and won it in extra points. This team has really grown and improved a lot this year. While we will really miss our Seniors, I look forward to where this volleyball program is headed in the future.”
Maddi Smith had 19 kills today, Layne Oliver’s jump serve really helped us out a lot and she scored 13 points, Sophie Jellison led in assists while Kyra Estrada led the team in digs. Rachel Rogers had one of her best games of the year with 7 blocks.
